Ilham Aliyev reviewed progress of construction of the “Tufan” summer and winter ski resort in Gabala

President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed progress of construction of the “Tufan” summer and winter ski resort in Gabala.

It was noted that this tourist site has favorable conditions for recreation in the mountains and is located about 4 kilometers from Gabala. The construction of the complex will provide tourists with the opportunity of excursions and recreation throughout the year and create conditions for doing winter sports. The system of tracks in the complex provides every guest with the opportunity to choose an individual type, angle and degree of difficulty. The slopes will be strengthened using special compacting units “Everest”. The use of this technique is effective in creating routes on the edge of mountain slopes or on flat areas and allows skiers to gain experience. There are plans to build 10 downhill tracks with a total length is 18,000 meters. Ski lifts are provided to deliver guests to accessible locations considering weather conditions – wind speed and direction, downhill tracks and the ability of skiers to use other tracks. It has been decided to equip all downhill tracks with a system of artificial snow. In order to provide the tracks with a snow cover, 223 artificial snow units will be installed. The holiday center will serve up to 3,000 people a day.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the Aquapark holiday and amusement center to be built in Gabala District.

It was noted that the new center will consist of several functional sections. By design, the building of the center will be a monolithic reinforced concrete structure. The roof will be constructed from a folding aluminum structure.

It was indicated that the center would operate as an area of enhanced comfort. The total area of its entertainment section will be 5,000 square meters. It will accommodate all water attractions. In the warmer months, it is planned to remove the roof. The pool will be divided into zones according to the age of the guests. In the center of the pool there will be a wave pool. With the help of special equipment it will be possible to create artificial waves with a height of 1.2 meters here.

Aquapark will be built using a variety of technical systems.

President Ilham Aliyev also examined the project of the Golf Resort, a sports and leisure center to be built in the district.

It was noted that in order to promote golf and raise interest in the sport in one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesque corners, Gabala, it has been decided to create a golf course, a golf academy and a golf club here. According to the project, there are plans to build a golf course, a golf club, a hotel, villas and the associated infrastructure on an area of 80 hectares between the Damiraparan river flowing through Gabala and the surrounding mountain range.

In order to prevent spills that may occur on the Damiraparan river due to seasonal rains and melting of the snow in the mountains and to protect the golf course, retaining walls will be built on the banks of the river. The center will be built in the classical form and style and have all the conditions for effective rest of club members and guests.

President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions on completing the work in a quality fashion.
